Purpose
The purpose of the
Graduate Preparation Program is to provide a bridge to academic
and cultural life in the United States for students wishing
to enter graduate programs here at Eastern Washington University.
With a combination of content courses and English language
support courses, the students should
be well prepared to be fully accepted into graduate studies.
This Program is intended for a two quarter period.
Entry

Please
visit the Graduate Student website: http://grad.ewu.edu
- Completion
of at least a baccalaureate degree that is considered
the equivalent of a four year undergraduate degree from
a regionally accredited U.S. university.

minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 90 quarter or 60 semester
credits of graded university or college level coursework.

Coursework
Description
This graduate preparation coursework
will consist of two quarters of content
classes and advanced ELI support courses. Each quarter,
the students
will take about 8 credits of coursework in their field of
study plus 8 credits of ELI support classes. If the students
succeed in both their content coursework and their advanced
language study, they can be fully admitted into graduate
programs, having already fulfilled all the other academic
requirements for graduate admission.
Ideally, this program would
begin in spring and continue into summer for a fall placement
into graduate studies. The program could also start in the
fall. With regular progress, the students would be ready
to enter full time graduate studies by spring. Graduate
advisors will determine the coursework.
Up to 12 credits of coursework
in their field of study from this program can be transferred
into the graduate program.
