Housing Information

After choosing to attend Eastern Washington University, one of the most important decisions you will need to make is where you will live. You will need to consider cost, convenience, study requirements and social interaction. Living on campus at Eastern Washington University affords you many opportunities and has proven to be instrumental in the academic success of Eastern students. It is perhaps one of the best ways to meet people from all over the world and to develop friendships with peers that will be cherished for a lifetime.

EWU Housing has seven residence halls with accommodations for 1900 students. Living arrangements include co-ed floors, same gender floors, floors with extended quiet hours, and a Wellness Hall, where residents agree to a substance-free environment (no alcohol, drugs or tobacco). You will have quick and convenient access to the entire campus, and Dining Services has three buildings, in which hot meals and a variety of choices to accommodate your individual preferences are available.

RESERVING A SPACE IN THE RESIDENCE HALLS

  1. Complete and sign the Housing Application/Contract.
ELI applicants should complete the section on the back of the ELI application for enrollment.
  2. Return the signed Housing Application/Contract and a $250 deposit. The $250 deposit must accompany the application in order to complete your reservation. This deposit is not a partial payment of your room and board and is refundable only after completion of your housing contract obligations.

COSTS

  1. A $250 deposit must accompany the application to complete your reservation. This deposit is not a partial payment of your room and board. It is refundable only after completion of your housing contract obligations.
  2. All contracts are Academic Year contracts. An Academic Year contract requires a commitment to live on campus, regardless of date of arrival, through the completion of spring quarter. If you live in a double room (shared with another student), your housing and dining costs will be approximately $1925 per quarter.
  3. The residence halls are not open between quarters and dining services are limited. However, housing will be provided to students, but a separate weekly fee will be assessed to your account.
  4. Students attending Summer Quarter may stay on campus in a residence hall at special summer rates.
  5. Payment for Housing and Dining is required as soon as you arrive on campus and the quarter begins.

WHAT IS PROVIDED
The Housing and Residential Life staff works hard to make sure your room is clean and comfortable, your roommate is compatible and your safety is uncompromised.

  • Each one of the rooms in our residence hall system on campus has a phone jack, computer jack and a cable TV jack.
  • Each room has ample closet space and dresser space and each student will have his or her own desk, chair and single bed.
  • Each residence hall has some storage space for overflow belongings and laundry facilities.
  • Each hall has a shared kitchenette with a stovetop element and a sink and a main kitchen with stove, oven and refrigerator.
  • Each hall has a TV lounge and game room with pool tables and ping pong tables. Movies, TV's, VCR's and DVD players can be borrowed from the hall office.
  • Each hall also has a variety of activities and events held each quarter in an effort to create a community atmosphere and make lifelong friends.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING
Students must provide their own linens (blankets, pillows, sheets) and toiletries (towels, soap, shampoo, etc.). Many students wait until they arrive in town to purchase these items. Rooms are equipped with phone jacks and no phone, but many roommates provide a phone.
