ELI Classes
Standardized Tests and Preparation
Most American colleges and
universities require international students to take the
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). During each
term, the English Language Institute offers the Institutional
TOEFL and the TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication),
for a small fee.
Other tests such as the International
TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, and SAT are administered throughout the
year at EWU. A TOEFL preparation class is offered for students
who feel they need additional preparation. ELI also offers
test preparation in SAT, GRE, and GMAT.

Test of English
for International Communication
TOEIC is the international
standard for measuring English-language proficiency. This
test differs from traditional academic testing of grammar
rules and literature. It is designed specifically to test
abilities in English as it is used in real-life situations
in business and government. More information about this
test is located at the ICI International Communications
site.
